Living the Dream Program, Inc. 501(c)(3) and Living the Dream House,LLC were founded on purpose, passion, and a deep commitment to community.

Our journey began in 2011, when our founder, Joe Bates, served youth at the Lucas County Youth Treatment Center, working with young people who were incarcerated and in need of guidance, structure, and hope. During this time, Joe discovered not only the challenges facing youth in the justice system, but also the power of mentorship, accountability, and genuine care.

Feeling a strong obligation to give back to his own community, Joe returned home to Oakland, California, where he worked across numerous community-based organizations. Through direct engagement with youth, families, and fellow staff members, it became clear that his ability to connect, uplift, and lead was more than a profession — it was a calling.

In 2019, with the support and mentorship of Tony D, Executive Director of Youth Together, Living the Dream Program, Inc. was officially formed.

​

Today, our work centers on a holistic approach to service — supporting youth, strengthening families, empowering communities, and helping individuals discover and walk in their purpose. We believe that when young people are supported with love, structure, educational support, life changing opportunities, and belief in their potential, entire communities thrive.

Living the Dream is more than a program — it is a movement dedicated to transforming lives and building brighter futures.
